The closing date for the 2019 African Responsible Tourism Awards has been extended to 18 January 2019. Entries have been steadily streaming in, but we’ve been getting requests to extend the deadline for entry.
The public can also make nominations for the awards until 31 December 2018. A nomination will be a lovely new year’s surprise for tourism’s hard-working organisations.
While categories focusing on conservation and benefits for communities are popular, we’re hoping to attract more entries into the categories for cultural and heritage experiences, events, attractions and resource management. We’re calling on the public and our colleagues in the tourism trade to help us discover inspiring responsible tourism stories from all over Africa.
Winners of the African awards are announced at a ceremony at WTM Africa in Cape Town in April 2019 and will gain automatic entry into the World awards given a similar category.
