Travel blogger Dawn Jorgensen, aka as The Incidental Tourist, will host the 2017 African Responsible Tourism Awards ceremony on 20 April, at WTM Africa 2017.

A conscious traveller with a deep love for Africa, its people and the environment, Dawn travels to learn more about the world that we live in. From gorilla trekking in Uganda, tree planting in Zambia and turtle rescue in Kenya, on her award-winning blog The Incidental Tourist,  she shares narratives, stories and photographs from her local and international travels, as well as accommodation reviews, videos and details of conservation work that she supports.

Dawn has collaborated on Travel Campaigns with numerous tourism bodies and airlines around the world, among them South African Tourism, SWISS, Thailand, Singapore and Turkish Airlines, Switzerland Tourism, Trafalgar Travel, Ethiopian Airlines and Reunion Island Tourism. She is the Cape Town Chapter Leader for the global organisation Travel Massive and one of the founders of the Animal Rights in Tourism movement, making much of her written focus on conservation, fair trade and finding ways to explore our world with a deep consciousness and appreciation for the environment we find ourselves in, and it’s people.

Says Dawn, ‘As a self-proclaimed earth advocate and conscious traveller, it is a great privilege to be associated with the African Responsible Tourism Awards that annually honour the individuals, establishments and places offering top tourism experiences that are built on a passion for the environment, our wildlife and local communities. Each of the nominees brings invaluable lessons in using tourism to create better places and I cannot wait to learn from them’.
