Scorecard for Tebogo Bed&Breakfast after the first site vist

Here is a summary of the responsible practices in place at Tebogo Bed & Breakfast when we did the first site visit.

  • Showers are fitted with low-flow showerheads or other water-saving devices
  • Seven out of nine rooms have showers, and two rooms have a bath
  • Appliances are water-wise

  • There are checklists or notices in places where water is used to ensure staff save water
  • Gardens are watered before 10h00 or after 16h00
  • Sprinklers are used no more than 20 minutes in each area

  • Lighting is energy efficient CFLs or LEDs
  • Minibars are energy star-rated
  • Rooms have extra blankets for use in cooler months
  • Outdoor areas are lit using day-night or motion sensors

  • Old geysers are fitted with geyser blankets
  • HVAC systems are energy efficiency rated

  • Checklists require that all lights, TV, AC be turned off in unoccupied rooms
  • Checklists require that all lights, TV, AC and minibars be turned off in check-out rooms
  • Laundry is partially air dried (if not completely air dried)
  • The use of the tumble drier is limited
  • The number of lights that are used in any given space is limited
